There's a spring that pulls the clutch pedal all the way up, which closes a micro switch, When that microswitch is open jakes and cruise won't work.. Dec 23, 2009 · In order for the ECM to activate the Jake brakes, it needs to see the clutch switch is closed and the pedal sensor is at minimum. Basically, if they are not the ECM thinks the drivers foot is on the clutch or throttle pedal and will not allow the Jakes to work. That also includes the cruise control not working either. On the results from the MAGNET against the Interlock switch, it completes the circuit to allow you to bypass the safety feature. Much like starting in 4LO, it'll do it so be sure you're not in gear. However, my Cruise will NOT work in this configuration and I'm getting a check engine light for the Clutch Interlock Safety Switch.The proper way to bypass it is to cut the connector off, solder the wires together and to slip a piece of heat shrink tubing over it and shrink it. Then use a zip tie to fasten it somewhere.
